Newborn And Sibling Photos
The second most common question I get after inquiring about in-home newborn sessions is whether or not I include newborn and sibling photos. The answer is YES! My job as a newborn photographer is to not only capture your tiny newborn but also document your growing family. I generally advise clients interested in including big brother or big sister in the photos to opt for a lifestyle session because the older child will feel more comfortable in your home playing with their own toys. Adding a new brother or sister can be an adjustment for older siblings so anything that helps keeps them in their comfort zone will lend itself to a better experience for everyone.
I was so thrilled when our friends Sophie and Doug asked me to come to their house to photograph little Easton! Our families (pre-children) met through mutual friends and our older kids are the same age. It’s hard to believe they are already big siblings! If you live in Charlotte and think they look familiar, they own the amazing Pour Olive on East Blvd in Dilworth. If you or someone you know is a foodie, be sure to check out their store for some amazing artisanal olive oils and balsamic vinegars!
Easton did amazing during his session! He was awake in the beginning but calm because we had wrapped him pretty tightly in a swaddle. His eye contact with the camera was amazing for a newborn! He quickly drifted off to dreamland and we were on our way! Big brother Jack kept busy with his trains and toys while Easton was being photographed.
One of the other advantages of having newborn and sibling photos taken in your home is that we can use a bed to let big brother or big sister interact with their new baby brother or sister. Most toddlers don’t have the ability or attention span to properly support a newborn so sometimes we lay them both on the bed and let them gently cuddle or kiss their new sibling. Just look at how candid and sweet the photos of Jack and Easton are below! Talk about melting a mother’s heart!
Sophie has to be one of the most beautiful new moms I’ve ever photographed. She looks positively radiant holding Easton! I also love just how little Easton looks in Doug’s hands. Newborn photos with the dad are always some of my favorites. Together, they make a gorgeous family of four!
Welcome to the world Easton!
Enjoy!
