First Birthday Cake Smash Sessions
You’ve made it through the first year (well almost)! Congrats! What better way to celebrate your little one’s first birthday than with a custom cake smash session?! I love cake smashes and so will your little one! After dozens of first birthday sessions, I’ve only had one little boy who wasn’t a fan of cake! Don’t worry, his photos were still adorable!
Cake smash sessions are generally split into two parts so that your gallery isn’t completely full of a messy little one. Parents usually bring a special outfit to start with and then we get the cake set up. I am happy to incorporate birthday party themes or nursery color schemes. Some recent cake smash themes I’ve recently done include pink lemonade, super hero, Minnie Mouse, Thing 1 and Thing 2 and shabby chic. If you don’t have a theme, don’t worry as I have a number of fun and colorful set ups for boys and girls.
Not sure about a cake smash or want to do something unique? Donut smashes or cookies are a great alternative. Donuts are easier to hold than cake and usually less sweet.
If you want to display these photos at an upcoming birthday party, I recommend scheduling your cake smash session about three weeks ahead of time. If you are interested in a custom theme, be sure to reach out even earlier so I can have time to plan and customize your session for you.
Please note that I do require parents to bring their own cake or treat but I am happy to make suggestions based on your needs. Many parents choose Suarez Bakery for custom first birthday cakes, donuts or their famous Texas Donut Cake. Whole Foods is a great option especially if you are trying to avoid common allergens or food dyes. Also, Harris Teeter offers FREE first birthday cakes! This is a popular choice as well if you are looking for a simple smash cake.
