I am so lucky to do what I do…I really mean that. I get to meet some really wonderful people and capture moments and emotions for them that they can treasure forever. Every once in a while I meet a family that is extra special and this is one of them. These newborn twins were amazing! After spending some time in the NICU both boys were healthy and strong by the time they came to see me. Not only that, they were super sleepy the whole session. I think I only saw Grayson’s eyes once the entire time.
I view what I do as more than taking pictures and I want to provide more than just photos. I want to be a storyteller and an illustrator of emotion and love. Everyone’s journey to parenthood is different. Some people have an easier road than others. I think the picture below perfectly illustrates this family’s journey. I love how tiny the boys look in Jay’s hands. I love that he is smiling at them and snuggling so close. I didn’t want to edit out the little veins popping out in his forehead because I felt that it lent so much emotion to the image. I think my favorite part of the image is that James is reaching up to touch Jay’s cheek and it looks like Grayson is going to as well. It’s like they are saying, “hi dad, we’ve been waiting to meet you too and we’re so glad to be here”…
I am so honored and humbled to say that the National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) awarded this image third place in their January 2014 International Image competition in the Newborn category. I am so happy to share this amazing award with such a special family…
While I know this first picture is pretty special, I just love the whole gallery and hope you do too!
Enjoy!
